As we bid farewell to another year, it’s time to unveil what our customers checked out the most in 2023 starting with the top circulator in each genre.

This past year has presented many challenges and concerns for our community and the world. We have witnessed the horrors of terrorism and war in Gaza and Israel, sparking fear, outrage, and extraordinary acts of courage and compassion too. In these uncertain times, Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, like libraries across the globe, plays a unique and crucial role.

For many, adjusting to and thriving in a new role can be a process that takes a really, really, long time. And for some, the transition is seamless as the role fits who they are. In this case, this individual thrives in doing their job and the effort to do so is pure. This is the story of AWR librarian Andrea Davis.

Allegra Westbrooks Regional Library is gearing up for the 2023 Community Christmas Celebration! The event, held on Sunday, December 10, 2023, is an opportunity for the community to connect with the Library.

Happy International Games Month (IGM)! IGM is an initiative run by volunteers around the world to reconnect communities through their libraries around the educational, recreational, and social value of all types of games – and CML has done a LOT of gaming so far this November!

November is National Family Literacy Month, a celebration that has continued nationally since 1994 to raise awareness of the importance of families reading and learning together. Charlotte Mecklenburg Library fosters family literacy daily at all our Library branches and in the community.

As October draws to a close, Charlotte Mecklenburg Library's STEAM Month has ignited a passion for science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics. While this month-long event offers a diverse array of learning activities, it's worth noting that the Library's digital literacy resources are available year-round.

In November, Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is excited to participate in International Games Month! What started in 2007 as a one-day event has now grown into an international, month-long phenomenon, celebrated in places as far as Australia, Italy, and Norway.

As a native-Virginian, I quickly learned that BBQ is the root of a lot of disagreement in the Carolinas. There are endless "rights and wrongs” to BBQ preparation, sauce, how the meat is smoked, what side dishes to serve... the list goes on.
