Make the most of your winter break at the Library

Make the most of your winter break at the Library

We may not get snow this holiday break, but chances are your children will eventually get bored. Never fear – Charlotte Mecklenburg Library has plenty of fun-filled and educational activities to fill up at least a few hours of winter break! And, don't forget to take home a stack of books to continue the fun all break long.

Here are just a few of the fun programs you can find at your local library:

Thank the soldiers

Write a postcard or letter of appreciation to a soldier, and it will be delivered to our military – whether they are abroad, at home or injured in hospitals.
December 22-23 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. in Spangler Library and The Teen Loft at ImaginOn

Watch a movie

After you see Star Wars: The Last Jedi at the theater, check out all of the free movies shown at many of our 20 locations. PS – not only are the movies free, but so are the snacks!

Enjoy a storytime

Get out some wiggles and help foster a love of books and reading at the same time with a Library storytime. With storytimes for babies, toddlers and families, and even storytimes in two languages, chances are there is a storytime perfect for you.

Learn how to use that new device

Most children don't need help learning anything technical, but Library staff can help ensure your children are safe on their new device and show you all of the great resources that are available for FREE with your library card (like movies, music, audiobooks, graphic novels, e-books and more!).

Explore cultures

Take time to learn about the different cultures and people in our community. Celebrate Kwanzaa with Mother Minter, explore the Collards + Culture exhibit at Sugar Creek Library and learn about New Year’s traditions from across the globe at ImaginOn.
