Every third weekend in August, Charlotte Pride holds its annual Pride Festival and Parade. The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library was excited to participate by not only walking in the parade, but also by encouraging the community to "Read with Pride."

Midwood Elementary reached its prime in the 1950s. Several decades later, the school began to fall into disrepair and closed, but in 1985 seventy workers brought Midwood Elementary back up to code in a speedy three days, changing the trajectory of the school and what it meant to the community forever.
