South County Regional Library, serving southern Mecklenburg County, is the county's largest regional library. The 34,000 sq. ft. building was constructed in 1998 with funds from bonds approved by voters in 1995. Since opening, South County has become a favorite destination for all ages, serving over 450,000 visitors each year.

Enjoy a visit from our local firefighting heroes, the crew from Station 24 who will share stories with their library friends. They will bring their mascot Blaze and a fire truck.
In this introductory workshop, create a simple spreadsheet using Microsoft Excel. Participants must be comfortable with working in the Windows environment, and basic knowledge of Microsoft Word is helpful.
Children learn about language and literacy through play. Manipulatives and toys will be available for the littlest learners and families of children from birth to age 18 months to play together. Books will be pre-selected and available for check out.
Discuss current events and obtain insights into Brazilian culture. A native Brazilian Portuguese speaker will aid non-native speakers in improving reading and conversational skills.
An exchange program for adults learning English or Spanish. First 45 minutes are English conversation, second 45 minutes are Spanish. There will be native speakers of both languages to help with vocabulary and grammar. Members attend both sessions. Beginners welcome.
